The mobile telephony sector is constantly boiling and above all constantly renewing. The smartphones follow one another and often look very similar, but this does not prevent us from waiting for certain models with impatience. If you have not been following all the news, here is a summary of the rumors about the most anticipated smartphones of the moment.
The IPhone 8
As every year, Apple is preparing a new generation of iPhone, the flagship smartphone that accounts for most of the company’s revenues. The year 2017 marks a special stage for Apple, since 10 years ago; Steve Jobs presented the first iPhone.
We think the firm would like to celebrate the event with a very special iPhone, so the craziest rumors multiply. The iPhone 8 could thus be the first to use a curved OLED screen. The TouchID fingerprint reader would be directly integrated on the screen, which would allow Apple to no longer use its bulky home button. On the design side, some hope that the brand could return to the emblematic appearance of the iPhone 4 with two glass panels and a stainless steel chassis.
If the brand with the apple meets the usual schedule, it will be necessary to wait until the month of September for the announcement of this new model. The logic would however be that it is a simple iPhone 7S.
Samsung Galaxy S 8
Samsung will introduce its Galaxy S8 on March 29, 2017 to launch its marketing a month later. The rumors and leaks around this phone and its declination Galaxy S8 Plus do not dry up on the web.
Galaxy S8 will have a curved screen without borders and that it gets rid of the physical buttons on the front. Its fingerprint reader is located at the back, but the phone also offers an iris scanner and a facial recognition system to unlock the phone. Finally, it will benefit from Bixby, a smart assistant designed by Samsung.
For the price, it is expected to be sold starting at 799 euros. This tariff would increase up to 899 euros for the Plus version.
Google Pixel 2
The launch of Google Pixel was one of the major events of the end of 2016 for the industry. Gone are the Nexus range, Google launches with its own brand as a maker of smartphones and will fight on the land of Apple with a high-end product sold at the price of gold. Acclaimed by the press, the Google Pixel and Pixel XL seem to be good products, but without being devoid of defects. The design of the two phones is very classic and the margins around the screen are huge, without any reason, making them rather big phones to take over despite a diagonal screen quite classic. Of course, for us, the biggest flaw is the release of the two devices reserved for Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States.
Logically, Google should re-offend with a second-generation product at the end of the year. It is hoped that this time, smartphones will be released in France. To meet the demand of the fans who found the prices of Google too high, it murmurs that the firm would prepare a variant of the Pixel 2 more accessible. The brand should also take advantage of it to make its products resistant to water and dust with an IP68 certification.
It is important to note that the jack plug may disappear. Also, we already know the code names of the two future smartphones and also know that Google would be preparing a third phone of which we know almost nothing except that apparently it would be very large.
Xiaomi Mi MIX Nano (or Mi MIX Mini)
After the very noticed Mi MIX, Xiaomi would prepare a reduced version of its smartphone without borders. Although the brand has somehow denied its existence (or at least its name), photos prove that a prototype is in the process of being tested. Some even mentioned a presentation at the beginning of December. His recent discretion, however, suggests that the project is no longer planned at this time.
The LG G6 has clearly been one of the most exciting products of the MWC 2017. With a very well-designed design and a very pleasant comfort in hand, the smartphone is as slim and elegant. Let’s not forget to mention its 5.7-inch QHD display at the 18: 9 ratio to the impressive display quality, notably thanks to the Dolby Vison support which allows to display colors in 12 bits, very well nuanced. Finally, its dual 13-megapixel wide-angle sensor promises beautiful photos.
The rumors evoked a 5.5-inch screen for a template equivalent to that of the iPhone 7 (4.7 inches) and technical specifications similar to those of the Mi MIX, namely a Snapdragon 821, 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB storage.
If it is HTC 11, it would be a real surprise, for several reasons. First because the phone has never fled on social networks. Samsung, LG, Lenovo and Huawai have all seen their headlights end up on Twitter or Weibo months before their release. Then because, at the beginning of the year, HTC has already released a smartphone presented as a flagship: the HTC U Ultra (our test). It would be amazing in this context that HTC markets a second flagship as fast.
On the other hand, when you look at the calendar closely, it is almost a year since the HTC 10 was announced. And when we know that HTC has decided to abandon entry-level smartphones to focus on more qualitative features, we think it does not cost much to dream. Rendez-vous next Monday to have the heart of it.
One plus 5
The OnePlus 3 was one of the best smartphones of the year 2016. Launched at 399 euros, it integrated all the components of a high-end smartphone like the Snapdragon 820, an AMOLED Full HD screen, 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB storage. It was replaced at the end of the year by the OnePlus 3T equipped with the Snapdragon 821 and a larger battery for 439 euros.
This success should therefore be “logically” followed by the presentation of OnePlus 5 in the middle of the year. You have read well, there would be, a priori, no OnePlus 4, for a reason of superstition, because this number brings misfortune in China. We imagine that the manufacturer will opt for a Snapdragon 835 as a processor and that it will always be a question of being generous in internal storage and RAM to be once again a flagship killer worthy of the name.
The Nokia 8 Supreme would endorse the role of the standard bearer: it is expected with the famous Snapdragon 835, 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. The heavy so, which would allow Nokia to play in the same yard as Samsung and LG.
Both models of Nokia 8 would include a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED (QHD) display, a 24-megapixel camera with optical and electronic stabilization and a dual LED flash; At the front, there is a 12-megapixel camera. Stereo loudspeakers complete the data sheet.
Sony Xperia XZ Premium
At the Mobile World Congress, we also discovered the Sony Xperia XZ Premium. It is equipped with the latest Snapdragon 835 from Qualcomm. On the other hand, the exposed models were still in the development phase. It was therefore impossible to get a concrete idea of the real performance of the phone.
For now, Sony is putting forward the 4K screen of its future flagship and the capability of the photo sensor to shoot in 960 FPS. Impressive characteristics that must be relativised. For the first point, we can always discuss the advantage of having a screen with a resolution of 3 840 × 2 160 pixels on its smartphone. For the second, despite the astonishing results that can be obtained with the slow motion, this one is limited to 1.08 seconds and the image is easily broken in difficult conditions.
